Calgary, Alberta,  November 6, 2008—The Honourable Nick Taylor, President of Softrock Minerals (TSXV; SFT) announces that the Department of Natural Resources for the Province of Québec has granted Softrock Minerals Ltd an Oil and Gas License in the St Lawrence Lowlands geological area.
The license lies on the north side of the St. Lawrence River in the Sept-Îles area, east of Québec City and comprises 5575 hectares (13,775 acres).

Very little exploration has been done in the immediate area but a number of wells on Anticosti Island, 40 miles to the southeast has discovered petroliferous shales and limestones of Silurian and Ordovician age similar to commercial gas production further south in the U.S. and further west in the St. Lawrence valley.
